While being towed to salvage to Texas in Jan 1976, the tug boat had to
cut the tow cable due to high seas and the Goose ran aground at Cape
Hatteras.

Cmd Phillip Armstrong, who
served aboard the Betelgeuse 1959-62, was killed in action June 8, 1967
while serving as the Executive Officer of the USS Liberty AGTR5.
